Background

I’ve worked as a Clinical Psychologist for over 25 years, treating adults, adolescents, children, and infants in both short- and long-term psychotherapy. In my private practice, I see individuals, couples, and families.

I’ve supervised Clinical Psychology Master’s students at the University of the Witwatersrand and continue to offer supervision to practicing psychologists and social workers. I’ve also consulted for NGOs and social service organizations where I’ve training professionals and lay caregivers in counselling skills and clinical supervision.

As a member of the WSPR (Whistleblower Support Platform for Reform) I offer therapy to whistleblowers and their families.

healers.
Work for the Foundation for Human Rights on the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s
Unfinished Business programme.
Assisting leadership of Abahlali baseMjondolo shack dwellers movement.
As a member of the Whistleblower Support Platform for Reform (WSPR) I provide
psychotherapy and support to whistleblowers and their families, often through The Whistleblower House.

I’ve been a consultant to Right to Care and Community Aids Response (CARE) offering
counselling to people with HIV and training and supervision for staff. I’ve also consulted to
the Catholic Interdiocesan Tribunal.

Other experience includes:
Working with Employee Assistance Programmes (EAPs).
Member of the Ethical Guidelines Working Group of the interim South African Psychoanalytic Confederation’s (SAPC) Ethics Committee.
Two terms as public representative on the Broadcasting Complaints Commission of South Africa (BCCSA).
Teacher at Emadwaleni High School, Soweto.

I’m a mental health advocate and attend conferences and webinars on psychology,
sociology, history, political economy and policy making. I am a member of the South African
Psychoanalytic Initiative (SAPI), and I participate in psychoanalytic (clinical and theory)
groups, as well as in a community outreach programme through the Institute for Psychoanalytic Child Psychotherapy (IPCP). I stay informed about clinical and theoretical research into psychotherapy, mental and physical health.

I hold accreditation as a BKS Iyengar Yoga teacher, bringing mind-body integration to my
work, including breath and body awareness, and meditation practices.
